Please read the information below on the transfer process to guide you on selecting the most appropriate option for your personal situation. Selecting an option not suited to your personal situation may result in delays in the transfer and renewal of your accreditation.

NOTE: The following documentation may be required depending on your application type.

  • Photo ID
  • Selfie
  • Electrical License number and Expiry date
  • CEC Accreditation Number
  • Public Liability Insurance

Transferring your accreditation to SAA:

There are two options for the transfer of your accreditation from CEC to SAA.

Option 1 – Transfer only & renew later

This will move your accreditation to SAA and provide you with a new accreditation number that starts with an S. This process does not renew your accreditation. Your existing expiry date will be honoured. If you are within 6 weeks of expiring, we recommend selecting Option 2.

Option 2 – Transfer and Renewal

This will transfer your accreditation to SAA and provide you with a new accreditation number that starts with an S. The process will also renew your accreditation for a three year period (fees apply). This process will add three years onto your existing expiry date.

In order to renew your accreditation, you are required to hold 100 CPD points (60 core minimum). If you select transfer & renew but do not have sufficient CPD points, SAA will not be able to process your application so you will not be transferred into the scheme until such time as you hold 100 CPD points.

NOTE: SAA cannot provide an extension of your CEC accreditation expiry. Once expired, you will remain so until the transfer & renewal is complete.

Renewing your accreditation with SAA:

One you have transferred your CEC accreditation to SAA you are not required to renew until your accreditation date comes up. SAA is honouring the accreditation date you had with the CEC. At the time of your renewal, you are required to hold 100 CPD points (60 core minimum). CPD courses can be found here:

Applying for accreditation with SAA:

There are two different paths for new applications depending on whether you already hold accreditation or not.

Path 1 – Already hold accreditation:

If you already hold accreditation, you will need to wait until your transfer to SAA is complete and you have a new accreditation number that starts with an S. Once this process is complete you can apply for additional accreditations.

Path 2 – New to accreditation:

If you have not held accreditation previously with CEC or SAA, you can apply for a provisional accreditation. Please review the accreditation pathways before applying to ensure you have the relevant training and qualifications:
