Renew Your Accreditation
Renewal Process Steps
Renewing your accreditation involves three steps:
Step 1: Acknowledge key accreditation scheme documents in CPD Hub
These are key documents related to your participation in the accreditation scheme:
- SAA Code of Conduct
- SAA Privacy Policy
- Accreditation Agreement
Where you are eligible to renew your accreditation, a link will be available from the Accreditation Portal.
Step 2: Submit renewal form and payment
The renewal form steps through a range of information, including contact details and demographics.
There are a series of documents that must be submitted. You can upload them when submitting the renewal form, up to 21 days after your renewal due date, or within 21 days of submitting your renewal form (if returning from suspension or lapsed accreditation).
See step 3 for more information about documents.
The renewal fee is non-refundable and paid when submitting the Renewal Form.
Step 3: Submit required documents
Submit all required documentation no later than 21 days after your renewal due date, or within 21 days of submitting your renewal application (where accreditation has lapsed or when returning from suspension).
The required documents are:
Unrestricted Australian electrical licence – for all installers
Provide a copy of the electrical licence/s for each state or territory in which you are licensed, along with licence number/s and expiry date/s.
An electrical licence is not required for Design Only accreditation.
Insurance Certificate of Currency
Employer held insurance is acceptable if you are covered under the policy. You will be asked to provide details of the insurance owner and your relationship to them (e.g. employee, subcontractor etc).
Installers are required to provide a Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency (minimum value of $5 million).
Individuals accredited for Design Only can provide a Professional Indemnity Insurance Certificate of Currency (minimum value of $1 million).
A clear image of current government-issued photographic identification (e.g. current driver’s licence or passport).
A clear selfie (photo of yourself) where it is clear you are the same person shown in your photo ID (full face, well-lit, no sunglasses or hats).
Full details are outlined in the Accreditation Portal and will be available when you are eligible to renew your accreditation.
Accreditation Period
SAA has transitioned to a 12-month accreditation period.
If you first gained accreditation after July 2025, you are already on a 12-month accreditation and renewal cycle.
If you held accreditation before July 2025, you will transition to a 12-month accreditation cycle at your next renewal date.
Eligibility for Renewal
To be eligible for renewal, you must be a current accreditation holder, and your accreditation cannot be suspended or have lapsed for more than 12 months at the time you apply for renewal.
If you are eligible to renew your accreditation, a renewal link will be available to you in the accreditation portal and through email reminders we send you.
If you are not eligible to renew your accreditation, we will email you to advise any reasons for ineligibility and what you need to do resolve those issues and become eligible.
Renewal Fees
Single-class Accreditation (Any one of GCPV, GCBS, SPS)
$294 (GST excl)
[1 year period]
Multiple-class Accreditation (Any two or more of GCPV, GCBS, SPS)
$390.96 (GST excl)
[1 year period]
Eligibility where accreditation is lapsed less than 12 months
If accreditation has lapsed (been unpaid) less than 12 months, you can renew your accreditation providing you are not suspended for any other reason and have no accreditation requirements that are unmet.
Payment of the renewal fee will shift you from a lapsed accreditation status but will only be available if any suspensions or unmet requirements are first resolved.
Since accreditation is continuous, fees are not waived during periods of lapsed accreditation. Any renewal will apply from your original renewal due date, and not the date of payment.
If you are not eligible for renewal (due to suspension or lapsed accreditation), we will contact you by email to explain your status. Any steps you may be able to take to address your ineligibility will also be explained by email and displayed in your profile in the accreditation portal.
Reasons for Ineligibility to Renew
There are a range of reasons for which you may be ineligible to renew your accreditation.
Accreditation lapsed less than 12 months, with other suspensions in place
If accreditation has lapsed for less than 12 months, but accreditation has also been suspended, you will first need to resolve any reason for which you are suspended and any outstanding accreditation matters.
Payment of the renewal fee will then shift you from a lapsed accreditation status but will only be available if any suspensions or outstanding requirements are first resolved.
Accreditation has lapsed more than 12 months
If accreditation has lapsed for 12 months or more, you cannot renew your accreditation.
If you wish to regain accreditation, you will need to apply for a new accreditation.
Where training and qualification documents are more than two years old, individuals will need to re-train.
CPD Points not met for a prior accreditation period
Where there are outstanding matters or suspension relating to non-completion of CPD points for a prior accreditation period, you must complete the required 100 CPD points, so your suspension can be lifted before you can apply for renewal.
You can see what courses are available for completion on the CPD Courses page of the website.
Mandatory modules not completed by due date
Where required mandatory modules are not completed by the due date, you must complete the required module/s before you can apply for renewal.
Find out more about mandatory modules on the About CPD web page.
Overdue technical non-compliance
If suspension relates to an overdue technical non-compliance, you must provide proof of rectification and your suspension must be lifted, before you can commence the renewal process.
You can see any technical non-compliances under the Inspections tab in the Accreditation Portal.
Time-based suspension
If you are serving a time-based suspension for demerit points, unsafe or substandard work, you will be unable to renew your accreditation until your suspension ends.
You may like to ensure you have attained 100 CPD points and completed all required mandatory modules before your suspension ends, so you can proceed promptly when your suspension is lifted.
