AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 Essential Learning Module

The new AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 standard improves the safety and efficiency of inverter energy system installations. It is designed not only to protect installers, designers and consumers but also to ensure that inverter energy systems operate at their highest potential.

    • The AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 standard becomes mandatory on February 23, 2025.
    • All SAA accreditation holders are required to complete the essential learning course on this standard to ensure they understand the new requirements.
    • Completion Deadline: the course needs to be completed by 1 July 2025 to meet accreditation requirement.
    • Accreditation holders have the option to complete one of the following three courses that fully meet the essential learning content requirements:

SAA - AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 Essential Learning Module​

  • The module costs $31.00 (payable upon access) and provides 20 CPD points toward your annual CPD requirement.
  • The total time for completing the module is approximately 90 minutes, and it can be done in one go or broken up into smaller sessions at your convenience.
  • Solar Accreditation Australia has partnered with the Smart Energy Council to deliver the mandatory training module on the Smart Installer Learning Hub.

The Essential Learning Modules

  • The essential learning modules are a requirement of the Accreditation scheme.
  • It is designed to ensure that all accredited installers are aware of important standard and regulatory changes that effect the industry and know about the common compliance issues that are identified through the compliance inspection programme.  

About the new AS/NZS 4777.1:2024

The new standard addresses current industry needs and emerging technologies, making the installation process simpler and clearer for installers and designers. The updated standard reduces complexity and provides straightforward guidelines to help installers and designers follow the correct procedures more easily.

Complying with the AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 is mandatory from the 23rd of February 2025. Until then, installers and designers may work to either the old or the new version of the Standard but can’t mix requirements from both.

Non-compliance can result in a range of issues, from safety risks and system failures to potential fines.

Essential Learning:

SAA evaluates course eligibility based on the substantial nature of content covered across all six sections of the standard:

All accreditees will need to complete one of the following options:

  1. Complete AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 Essential Learning Module – delivered by the SAA;
  2. Complete AS/NZS 4777.1 Updates module (CPD197) – delivered by GSES (AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 Updates – GSES)
  3. Complete AS/NZS 4777.1 module Part 1 to Part 6 (CPD135, 139, 157, 160, 170, 182) – delivered by the SEC (Smart Installer – Smart Energy Council)

SAA extends the deadline for completion to 1st July 2025, giving accreditation holders more time to complete the course.

SAA recognises the following three courses: AS/NZS 4777.1:2024 Essential Learning Module delivered by SAA, AS/NZS 4777.1 Updates (CPD197) module delivered by GSES and AS/NZS 4777.1 module Part 1 to Part 6 (CPD135, 139, 157, 160, 170, 182) delivered by the SEC. 

Installers who have completed a different course on AS/NZS 4777.1, and believe that the course meets the requirements, can contact SAA on info@saaustralia.com.au to get it assessed.

SAA will contact individuals, who have completed the SAA Course, and are eligible for CPD point credits by Wednesday, 19 February 2025. If you believe you should be eligible but have not heard from us by that date, please reach out directly.

You can reset the quiz until you receive 100% pass to complete the Essential Learning Module. The new quiz will be automatically generated in the system.

Please allow 7 days processing time for the CPD points to show up in your portal.

SAA does not currently have its own Learning Hub. We worked with the SEC to deliver this module through their learning platform to ensure that this critical information is delivered to all of our SAA accredited holders intime for the changes to come into effect.

The fee covers the course development and delivery. Although there are free options of this module being offered by other training providers, not all cover the full standard. The SAA module is a comprehensive module that covers the full standard and ensure that installers have all of the information they need to adhere to the new changes.

Those who already have an existing login, can use these details to access the module. For anyone who is new to the Smart Installer LearnUpon need to register to be able to access the module.

Once you complete the module, you will receive an email from SAA confirming the Essential Learning Module CPD points have been added to your SAA accreditation. You do not need to submit the certificate of completion for this module.
